OUR HEROES BLEED GLITTER
(Modern queer films for today’s zeitgeist)
This collection of award-winning short queer films personifies queercore filmmaking. Some were made for literally zero dollars, without a crew and proper sound. Some again where supported and held by film funds. All of them are a prism of queerness.
Curated by Daniel Talbott, Andrew Klaus-Vineyard and Felix Mack with the wonderful folks at Cinelounge Tiburon

Queercore filmmaking is a cultural and social movement that began in the mid-1980s as an offshoot of the punk subculture. It is distinguished by its discontent with society in general, and specifically society's disapproval of the LGBTQ+ community.
Queercore filmmaking expresses itself in a do-it-yourself manner and aesthetic. We make our films whether we have two dollars, a condom, and a few pieces of gum, or whether we have actual financial backing or government subsidy and a full crew.
Queercore is something embedded into the heart and blood and DNA of a LGBTQ+ film. Something is always at risk emotionally, spiritually, and in how the film is dreamt up and made in queercore cinema. These are films made by family and friends and favors, with tons of love and hard work, and a deep “indie film lifer” obsession with film and filmmaking, to borrow Sean Baker’s phrase.PT2HOUR HEROES BLEED GLITTER"OUR HEROES BLEED GLITTER"Showtimes
